The official DOE site is here http://schools.nyc.gov/ChoicesEnrollment/default.htm I agree that it is a very complicated process. We are trying to do our part to help parents figure things out.

Where is the official city schedule of all these events….
How are parents supposed to navigate wiithout propper diredtions…….?
This process is distressing, frustrating, and wordt the info is not whole.
Will someone with the skill, submit a one stop official site of the schedule for the city……..?

I would love to have my kids ages 13, 10 1/2, 8 and 6 who are fluent in Russian as well as English, in a dual language school Please let me know if you intend to have a program that would be available for older kids. Thank you,

I just got letter that I asked from my son school on Friday March 2, 2012.That letter about Department of Education Kindergaten Application period begins Jan 9, 2012 and ends on March 2, 2012, than I called the School that my son school gave me, and Kindergaten Admission said that I have to registere my son but for waiting list. It’s ok for me, to put my son on waiting list, but how if shool can not accept him to go to school on September 2012, and still in the waiting list? ‘because that letter from school, it’s to late,,,and I just called March 5, 2012. Should I registere my son to another school that not in this area ? Elmhurst, Queens ? …Because I had experience about waiting list for 1 year. and after that will be waiting list again for 1 year, but I argued about that. and they did not find my form waiting list ,,, but the last they accepted my son.

It is a difficult system that may leave a child without a choice specially if he or she is not among the 90% and above students (my son’s average 87%). People who hold seminars cannot explain the process. They talk about a computer that will select based on the grades and state tests yet in corwdeded schools in QUeens there are thousands of applicants competing for hunderds of seats; Even if a student meets the criteria it is completely unclear if he or she will enter the school of choice. This system is confusing benefiting only a few. A sad proof of our inequality in public education.

My sun would start pre_K in 2012.I want him to have full day.In our zoned school,there is no full day program.May we be enrolled not in zoned public school with full day?
